Meet Ankita, Assistant Manager, Sales at Diageo India.

From the heartland of Madhya Pradesh to the bustling metro of Mumbai, Ankita Gupte's journey is a story of determination, and an unwavering passion for her work. Born and raised in Bhopal, Ankita began her professional life in IT after earning a bachelor’s degree in engineering. However, her innate creativity led her to pivot towards an MBA in Marketing. This decision marked the beginning of a decade-long career that eventually brought her to Diageo India.

Ankita's professional journey has been diverse and enriching, traversing industries such as telecommunications and healthcare. As the only woman in sales in her previous organisation, she recalls “there was a constant need to prove myself among stakeholders, given the perception that the role was typically perceived as a man’s job.” Despite these hurdles, Ankita remained steadfast, propelled by her robust problem-solving skills and ability to listen, learn, and adapt.

Shortly after joining Diageo, Ankita was expecting her first child. But with the unwavering support of her family, team, and manager, she navigated this phase with grace and strength. "Sales is not a monotonous job," she says. "The kind of challenges I face every day motivates me to work harder. It fills me with adrenaline to do something worthwhile and exciting! Her life mantra? "Keep hustling and be passionate always."

Ankita firmly believes that having more women in sales is beneficial. Women bring diverse perspectives, foster long-term client relationships, and promote collaboration.
